This policy applies only to goods purchased direct from Dirt Shirts. If you purchased one of our products from a retail store, please contact the store management for instructions.

DISCLAIMER
We consider any inconsistencies or variations in color or hue of dirt-dyed products to be a result of our unique dying process and not defects. This effect is simply a result of sediment build up in the fabric. In such a case, the product color will become even and consistent after the first washing as the extra clay is knocked loose from the fabric.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
Do not hand wash. Machine wash separately in cold water with mild, non-whitening detergent, tumble dry gentle cycle. Wash before wearing! This prevents residual red clay from staining or blemishing clothes, undergarments or skin.

We dye our shirts in red clay, using no artificial mordants or chemical fixatives. The iron oxide found naturally in clay is the dying agent. As a result, the color will bleed initially and fade slightly. Over several washings, your dirt shirt will fade to a pleasant buckskin color.
